Law-7 Ltd is a start-up company focusing on Fintech, Insurtech, Lawtech & Regtech.

It has 2 directors – Peter Elliott, an Australian national and Jonathan (Jack) Beards, a British national. Both are qualified in and have practised as Solicitors and Barristers in Australia and as Solicitors in England & Wales.

Peter Elliott worked in law firms in the City of London for over a decade in international insurance and reinsurance during the period of Lloyd’s of London’s Reconstruction & Renewal in the 1980s and 1990s. He represented a wide variety of syndicates and members agencies at Lloyd’s of London and most global insurers and reinsurers from around 20 countries. After returning to Australia, he worked in-house for a global reinsurer and oversaw claims in its five international offices including London, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai and Jakarta. After obtaining insurance qualifications in Australia, he secured an Australian Financial Services Licence for his own insurance managing agency. The foundation principals were Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) PLC and Munich Re Australia. In recent years, he has developed solutions for Legal Aid, insurance and banking. In 2021, he made various Submissions to UK government Consultations on Innovation, Growth, Regulatory Reform and Anti-Money Laundering. Some of his recommendations were included in the Khalifa Report on Fintech. Law-7 also collaborated with Lawtech, part of the UK government’s TechNation.

Jack Beards has 40 years experience, predominantly in criminal law. He was a partner in a small firm of Solicitors in Farnborough, Hampshire for 35 years. During his career, he handled murder cases and courts martial for the British Army of the Rhine. Most of his time was spent in the Magistrates and Crown Courts doing advocacy and trials. He has a very wide experience of the legal sector in England and Wales.
